Is it possible to find the perfect college? Well I think that I have found mine. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is a great college for me. It has all the aspects in a college that I am looking for. The University of Illinois has an interesting history and a prestigious reputation. It also has top of the line education, campus, and baseball program. The University of Illinois has some interesting history about it. It was founded in 1867 by John Milton Gregory, and started off with only two faculty members. Their enrollment increase after World War II. Gregory started his career off as Superintendent of Public Institution in Michigan in 1858. After his tenure in Michigan, Gregory became the president at Kalamazoo†¦show more content†¦They are made up of 17 colleges; however, they have 150 programs of study to choose from (Wikipedia Contributors). Their student-faculty ratio is 16:1, and 34% of the classes have less than 20 students. One of the colle ges is The College of Business. They are ranked 37th in Best Business Schools by United States News Best Grad School Rankings (Education Colleges). Also, they are ranked 14th in College of Business by University and College Rankings. The College of Business is going to be my chosen major. This is really important because I want to receive the best education possible. The College of Business has 7 major choices: Accounting, Business Administration, Business Process Management, Information System and Information Tech., Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management (U of I Review). Cold-water fish suck as salmon and the makerel, contain large amounts of omega-3 fatty acids, which may prevent heart disease. There are many kinds of fish that can be mass produced such as salmon, sturgeon, yellowtail, shrimp, lobsters, crabs, oysters, and clams. With numbers this high in fish that can be grazed it will soon give some relief on the meat industry. Aguaculture does ha a negative effect on the environment though, and its not all fish that can be mass produced because of the environment they have to live in. With disease at a high rate and being very common in these aqaucultures that is why most fish cant survive in these tight areas. With all the diseases and high cost to keep these places up and running it makes aquaculture an expensive investment and sometimes not worth it to the investor. Along with disease and high numbers of fish comes fish waste. Fish waste is high in these small contained areas and most of these areas are located on the coastal lines of our beaches. In turn polluting our swimming water and other types of fish that arent being farmed. Aquaculture has many good parts to it and many bad parts just like all other types of farming. I feel though that it is a good thing to the environment and population to make fish more easily accessible, and to give the meat farms some relief. Graising animals ruin many acres of land each year and if we were to eat more fish and less meat less open land rain forests would be destroyed from pasteurization. In the play, she is little more than a black slave, but in the film, we see her as a person and that she is actually the leader of the group of girls conjuring witchcraft. I also think that Hale has been transformed into a nicer character. Although, this may be because we can see him (visual impact) and hear his tone of voice and style he uses when he speaks. For example: when he says Goody Proctor, your husband is marked to hang this morning. : We do not know if he uses a serious tone, an ordinary tone or a sympathetic tone. The film and the play can give us different impressions of the characters. When reading the play for the first time, I got the impression that Tituba was a good, nice, innocent slave, who was used as a scapegoat by Abigail just because she was black. When I watched the video, though, we saw her, not as a slave but just like the other girls, singing, dancing and conjuring magic. I didnt feel as sorry for her in the film, and the fact the she seemed like the leader of the girls made it even harder to sympathise, making this a genuine difference between the play and the film. I think that it was effective that the ending, where the victims such as Proctor and Martha Corey got hung. Although it was sad, it showed us what really happened to them, as you cant show that in a book. I especially thought the bit where they were chanting the Lords Prayer together, when the ropes dropped was effective because the victims were in that position because they didnt want to lie to God, and by chanting the Lords Prayer and everyone cheering made them look like criminals and unloyal to God, when they were actually being the opposite. Another difference between the endings of the play and the film was that in the film, Abigail came to see John in his cell and asked him to come to Barbados with him, which does not happen in the play. The film and the play obviously share many similarities as the film was based on Millers original play script. The film shows no dramatic changes, although the layout of some scenes has changed and some scenes, such as the beginning, where the girls are calling the devil and conjuring witchcraft, and the ending, where the victims who are supposed to have called the devil are hung have changed. Generally, though, the film and the play are very similar, if not the same, and I do think that most of the changes made, have made it better, i. e. ; more dramatic and romantic. I think it is effective that the film and the play are not exactly the same because if they were, the audience would just be expecting everything and the effect frightening, humour and exciting wouldnt be as great on them. However, I also think it is effective that the differences between the play script and the film arent too big and overwhelming. I do think that the film shows a good resemblance of the play, though, and has been carefully constructed so that it shows the Crucible as close to reality as possible. I think that the reason that the Crucible doesnt begin and end like an ordinary play is because of the fact that is was based on a real life story- the Salem Witch Trials- that began and ended like this, but I also think that Miller was trying to show that something terrible- where innocent people were killed in horrific ways because they wouldnt lie to God- can occur from nothing but a few young girls thinking they were conjuring witchcraft and calling the devil. Miller may have used the McCarthy Era in his play, and put himself in the character of Proctor to show people what it was like for the sufferers, and also (as said in the introduction) to put an individual mark on his book, other than his name. William Shakespeare WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE William Shakespeare was a family man; he was a poet and a lasting literary figure. He is considered to be the most fascinating Elizabethan dramatist due to his writings and versatile life. Shakespeare's career has endured for centuries. He is one of the most studied authors of all time (Zender 22). Shakespeare did not attend a university, yet he created 144 poems and many plays, which are considered to be literary works of art. His writings in comedies and tragedies show his talent is unbounded. William Shakespear's popularity must have extended beyond his own expectations as it touches people even today (Zender 23). William Shakespeare was born in the year of 1564 and died in 1616. His education consisted mostly of Latin studies- learning to read, write, and speak the language fairly well and studying some of the classical historians and poets. A bond, dated November 28, 1582, was executed by two men of Stratford as a security to the bishop for the issue of a lic ense for marriage between Williams Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway of Stratford. One year later, a daughter named Susanna was born on May 26, 1583. On February 2,1585 twins were born Hamlet and Judith. Shakespeare's only son-died eleven years later (Groiler 1991). How Shakespeare spent the next eight years or so science 1585, until his name begins to appear in London Theater records, is not known. There are stories of stealing deer and getting into trouble with a local magistrate, of earning a living as a school master in the country, of going to London and gaining entry into the world of theater by minding horses of theater- goers. In the light of evidence, exploits of Shakespeare's life cannot be proved or dismissed. Shakespeare has often been viewed from the internal evidence of his writings. However, this method is unsatisfactory. One cannot conclude, for example from allusions to the law that Shakespeare was a lawyer, although he clearly was a writer who without difficulty could get whatever legal knowledge needed for the composition of his works. It is not clear how his career in the theater began; but from about 1594 onward, he was an important member of Lord Chamberlain's company of players, called the King's Men after the accession of King James I in 1603. The company had the best actor, Richard Burbage; they had the best theater, the Globe; and the best dramatist, Shakespeare.
